Easy Recipe Modifications
When a recipe calls for sauteing seasoning vegetables in oil, margarine or butter, use low sodium broth or water instead. You can saute your vegetables on the stove or in the microwave.
For a butter flavor, use butter extract. A few drops will give your favorite dish a subtle rich flavor without adding fat.
When baking desserts, use applesauce instead of oil, margarine or butter (*when eliminating fat decrease baking time to maintain moistness).
These are great ways to eliminate fat without sacrificing the flavor and quality of your favorite recipe!
