Wrap It Up The Healthy Way!

Sandwich wraps are a great way to add variety to your diet.  They are great to pack for lunch away from home or even for dinner when you are in a time crunch.  Get creative with this list of options:

1. Wrap:  My 3 favorite whole grain wraps at the moment are: Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Tortillas, Rudi's Spinach Tortillas (gluten-free) and Mission 100% Whole Wheat Tortillas.  Each tortilla contains 80-100 calories, 1-3 gms protein and 2-5 gms of fiber.  Another great option is butter lettuce.  This lettuce has the perfect texture to make a great wrap that will stay together.

2. Protein:  Sliced turkey, chicken breast or shrimp make great lean protein fillers for your wrap.  To make it meatless: lentils, black beans, quinoa and/or chick peas are great options.

3. Greens:  Fresh baby spinach and arugula are my favorites.

4. Extras: Add feta, blue cheese or goat cheese crumbles for a punch of flavor.  Dried cranberries add a nice touch of sweetness.  I like the reduced sugar Craisins.

5. Drizzles: Hummus, guacamole, salsa, reduced-fat mayonnaise and/or a flavored balsamic vinegar. Favorite brands:  Hope hummus, Kraft Reduced-Fat Mayonnaise with Olive Oil and Napa Valley Naturals Pomegranate Balsamic Vinegar.

What's not to love about how easy and healthy wraps can be?!  So many options to get creative and avoid boredom.  It's a wrap!
