Spice it Up!

Get into the habit of adding spices, including cinnamon, to fire up your metabolism.  Studies have shown that spicy foods increase the body's heat production which then can lead to an increase in metabolic rate.  Try adding hot sauce, jalapenos, chili powder, red pepper, and red or green chilies to foods for a zesty flavor.  Not only can these spices increase your metabolism, but it has also been proven that we feel more satisfied with our meals when they are very flavorful.  The more satisfied we feel, the less likely we are to overeat.  Eating healthy and low-fat does not have to taste bland.  Also, add cinnamon to as many of your breakfast foods and snacks as you can.  Sprinkle a little cinnamon in your coffee, Greek yogurt  and on hot and cold cereals for added flavor.  Cinnamon is also great on apples, sweet potatoes and butternut squash.  So lets kick up the flavor while kicking up your metabolism!
