Healthy Meal in a Bowl

WHAT'S HOT NOW:  The latest trend in healthy meal planning is combining all of the key ingredients that make a meal healthy in one bowl.   Always start with a lean protein source.  In this bowl, I chose turkey tenderloins that I seasoned with low sodium teriyaki sauce and onion powder; and then grilled.  Next choose your salad greens.  I LOVE the greens pictured here because they contain fresh kale and spinach.  These greens are dark, leafy and full of antioxidants.  The rice pictured here is Seeds of Change Indian Rice Blend.  It is a flavorful blend of basmati rice, lentils, mung beans and garbanzo beans.  This pouch is precooked and takes 90 seconds in the microwave.  There are many whole grain rice, quinoa, lentils and farro options that are pre-cooked and just need to be heated.  The salad dressing pictured is Whole Foods brand Tangerine Vinaigrette and is "low sodium, no oil, low sugar and low calorie".  I added feta cheese for flavor.  Another cheese option is fresh grated Parmesan.  The stronger the cheese flavor the less you have to use.  After you have all of your key ingredients, toss together and enjoy!  All of these food items were found at Whole Foods.

Diets Don't Work!

If we put as much time and energy into our long-term weight management goals as we do into “quick-fix, fad diets” we would all be successful!
